A joint security patrol was carried out on Sunday in the snow-covered Korala border area of Upper Mustang along the Nepal–China frontier. The patrol involved personnel from the Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal Police, and the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Lomanthang.Led by ACAP Lomanthang Office Chief Umesh Poudel, the team conducted the patrol to prevent wildlife poaching, smuggling, and other illegal activities that tend to increase during the winter when border areas remain largely deserted. Despite sub-zero temperatures and heavy snow, the patrol covered areas from Border Pillar No. 24 to Pillars 25–28 towards Manang.Officials said this was the first joint border patrol in the region during the winter season. With temperatures in Upper Mustang dropping to as low as minus 20°C and most locals migrating to lower areas, security personnel continue to remain stationed in harsh conditions to safeguard the border.
