Jhapa: Police have arrested three individuals from Damak along with two pistols that were looted from the Metropolitan Police Office, Kathmandu, during the Gen-Z protests. Authorities also recovered 20 rounds of ammunition from them.

According to the District Police Office, the arrested individuals are:

  • Saroj Puri (26) of Damak-9
  • Pawan Hangsunwa (30) of Aitabare, Chulachuli-4, Ilam

A team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Kakarbhitta branch under Inspector Kumar Somesh Lamichhane, along with personnel from the Damak Area Police Office, first apprehended Saroj Puri near his rented room in Damak-8. Police recovered a Type-54 Chinese pistol and 15 rounds of ammunition from him.

During interrogation, Puri revealed that the second weapon was with Bishwo Lingden, leading police to arrest Lingden at his residence.

Lingden later confessed that he had sold the second pistol to Pawan Hangsunwa of Ilam for Rs 20,000.

A joint police team then reached Hangsunwa’s field, where they recovered the second Type-54 Chinese pistol, loaded with five rounds of ammunition, buried inside a red plastic bag. The weapon was found rusted.
